Visiting Skin Deep Med Spa

Visiting Skin Deep Med SpaTaking care of your skin is vitally important so that you look and feel great especially as you age! That being said what are some good tips for taking care of your skin.

First of all, you will want to take care of your skin by protecting it from the sun. Too much sun exposure can cause problems to your skin such as wrinkles, age spots, and believe it or not, can increase your chances of developing cancer. If you are like me, avoiding the sun is not an option because I love it so much and it makes me feel so good. So what are some ways you can protect your skin while still enjoying the sun and it’s benefits? You need to make sure to always use sunscreen. Make sure you have an appropriate SPF of at the bare minimum 15. If you are outside for extended periods of time, reapply your sunscreen every two hours or so. If you are swimming you will want to reapply once you get out of the water. Another helpful tip is to seek the shade as much as you can. The sun’s rays are the strongest between the hours of 10am and 4pm so if you are wanting sun at that time, perhaps take short breaks where you can cool off in the shade. Another option is wearing protective clothing to help protect your skin such as a hat. I know I like wearing a hat to help protect my face from getting burned since it seems to get burned fairly easily.

A second top for taking care of your skin is to not smoke. You may be wondering what smoking has to do with your skin. Well, smoking can make your skin look older and it also adds dramatically to your skin developing wrinkles. While smoking, blood vessels in your skin narrow which causes decreased blood flow. The decrease of blood flow cause your skin to lose out on oxygen and nutrients your skin needs for health and growth. Furthermore, smoking also damages collagen and elastin which give your skin elasticity and strength.

Third, in order to take care of your skin you need to treat it well. You will want to limit bath time. Hot water can deplete your skin of essential oils, so if you are prone to taking long hot baths or showers, perhaps you will want to change your ways a bit. It is best to use warm water when rinsing off. Along the same lines, make sure that you use mild cleansers because anything to harsh will also strip your skin of essential oils it does need. It is also a good idea to put on moisturizer once you have pat dried yourself off after a shower.
